Deposit
Undergraduate Students: An AUD$3,200 deposit is required and this consists
of (1) AUD$2,000 one-o non-refundable pre-payment of Term 1 fees and
(2) residential bond of AUD$1,200 which is refundable on successful completion
of Level 2.
Postgraduate Students: An AU$2,000 deposit is required and this consists of an
AUD$2,000 one-o non-refundable pre-payment of Term 1 fees.
The deposit is required once the Letter of Oer has been signed.
Invoicing
Students are invoiced on a term by term basis by unit. The current fee schedule
is based on 4 units by term for the undergraduate programs and 2 units by term
for the postgraduate programs.
Fee inclusions
Please note that all the costs detailed below are included in the tuition and residential
package fees and the one-o and recurring costs quoted in the Fee Schedule except
where indicated.
Leura campus residential package fees
Residential package includes all meals, accommodation, all residential facilities, in-room
telephone access, use of sporting and recreational facilities, guest lounge, multimedia and
games room, student laundry facilities and 24-hour duty manager assistance.
Meals: All meals are included. At Leura, students can choose from a fine dining restaurant,
a bistro and a café. Where students are unable to attend scheduled meal times for medical
or other reasons, they can receive room service. Menu choices cover a range of
international cuisines and always include a vegetarian option. Other dietary requirements
should be noted on a student’s application form. Responsible Service of Alcohol is strictly
adhered to.
Accommodation: Residing on campus is required in your first two years of the
undergraduate programs. Living on campus is required as this provides an opportunity to
bond closely with other students and meet the demanding schedule of applied units
including late and early shifts.
The student rooms are serviced once a week and all linen is provided. All student rooms
have a private telephone line and 24/7 access to both the School intranet and internet.
Laundry: The Leura campus has laundry facilities with washing machines, dryers and
ironing boards available to all students free of charge. An o-campus bag service and
dry-cleaning service is available and can be booked through housekeeping.
Front Oice: The Leura Front Oice takes care of all student’s mail, student accounts
(for any extra charges such as photocopying, printing, library fines, extra food and beverage
items) and oers sale of stationery supplies such as assignment binders, laminating pouches
and envelopes. It also oers a newspaper subscription and delivery service.
Accommodation options in Sydney and Melbourne
Students studying at our Sydney or Melbourne Campus live o-campus. BMIHMS at
Torrens University Australia does not hold any agreements with accommodation providers,
but can recommend various accommodation options and provide guidance. It is students’
responsibility to find their own accommodation. As a guide, rent will cost between AU$120
and AU$400 per week.
One-o cost on entry
Tools of Trade: The kit includes a crumbing tool, BMIHMS at Torrens University Australia
waiter’s friend (a cork bottle opener) and a 5 piece professional chef’s knife kit which
includes a knife roll for travel purposes.
Uniform: The School mirrors a professional business environment where sta and students
adhere to a dress code that is standard across the hospitality and tourism industry.
Students are required to wear uniforms to all classes. A male student uniform consists of 1
tie, 1 pair black pants, 3 long sleeve white shirts and 1 jacket. A female student uniform
consists of 1 tie, 1 pair of black pants or skirt, 3 long sleeve business shirts and 1 jacket.
Recurring costs per academic term
Text Books: Textbooks are available online only via the Torrens University library.
Essential reading material must be purchased for academic studies and costs provided
are approximate for each term.
Photocopying and printing etc: Students have full access to scanning, photocopying and
A/V services. Students are issued with a photocopy credit swipe card and usage is charged
back to their Front Oice account which is settled each week at Front Oice.
Special costs
Health cover: International students are required by the Australian Government to join the
Overseas Student Health Cover scheme, which provides for a range of medical and hospital
care. The OSHC does not cover dental, optical, pharmaceuticals and ambulance services.
Health cover will be included in your BMIHMS invoice.
Airport reception and transfers: All new students going to the Leura campus have the
opportunity to be met on arrival and transferred from the airport to the campus free of
charge on the designated day nominated in the letter of oer.
